Kanata is the heart of Ottawa’s high-tech industry and its diverse neighbourhoods range from newer and upscale to mature and more affordable communities. The one thing that all of Kanata real estate has in common is that they are in high demand and expanding. Kanata’s neighbourhoods can be divided into geographical areas: Kanata South includes Bridlewood, Emerald Meadows, and Glen Cairn, Katimavik is also known as Kanata Central, while Kanata North includes Beaverbrook, Village Green, Kanata Lakes, and Morgan’s Grant/Shirley Brook. Stittsville, a small town within itself, is located on the western edge of Kanata. Homes in Kanata range from luxury estates to detached single-family houses, townhouses, condominiums, and terrace/row homes. North Kanata real estate was built mainly between 1965 and 2002 and range in price from $275K-$630K for detached and $230K-$500K for attached dwellings. Katimavik was mainly developed in between 1974 and 1994 and homes vary in price from $300K-$575K for detached houses and $250K-$415K for attached. Homes in Kanata North were established between 1964 and 1971 and 1988 to 2008 and range in price from $350K-$800K for detached and $275K-$600K for attached homes. Houses in Stittsville started being built in 1958 and development continues to this day. The majority of the homes are detached and range in price from $325K-$925K while attached homes vary in price from $250K-$430K.

Recreation

Surrounded by the Greenbelt, Kanata real estate has an abundance of beautiful green spaces, trails, and parks for hiking, jogging, and cycling. There are also plenty of outdoor activity areas including sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, skateboard parks, playgrounds, splash pads, swimming pools, and outdoor rinks for skating and hockey as well as sledding hills for winter fun.

You will also find golf courses, a wave pool, public libraries, a trampoline park, and indoor playgrounds for kids as well as a large cinema boasting 24 theatres in Kanata.

The home of the Ottawa’s NHL team, the Senators, is located at the Canadian Tire Centre which also presents concerts and other entertainment events.

Shopping and Dining

The Kanata Centrum is one of Ottawa’s largest shopping centres and offers many brand name retailers and well as mid-market stores and numerous restaurants. Shoppers from all over Ottawa come to the Tangier Outlet Mall for designer fashions at bargain prices.

For your daily and personal shopping needs, Kanata provides everything from big-box retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Chapters, to numerous grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, and health and dental clinics which are located throughout the area.
