Homes

Initially settled by Italian immigrants in 1900, Little Italy is the hub of Ottawa’s Italian community although it’s now home to a variety of cultures. Most of the houses in this area were built between 1900 and 1960 and vary in price from $300K-$600K. The area also features a variety of attached homes ranging from four-plexes to condominiums and townhomes which range from $275K-$1.2Mill+.

Recreation

On the southern end of Little Italy, Dow’s Lake offers scenic trails for biking and hiking along the National Capital Commission trail system, paddle boats and kayak rentals, and water-based activities as well as hosting the annual Canadian Tulip Festival each May.

In June, the community hosts Italian Week where Italian culture and cuisine is celebrated along with musical entertainment and festivities. The area also has numerous parks with playgrounds, pools, splash pads as well as sports fields, skating rinks, and more.

Shopping and Dining

Preston Street features many venues for Italian cuisine from pizza parlours, panini bistros, homemade gelato shops, and fine dining restaurants.

There are also non-Italian eateries which include a variety of ethnic fare as well as coffee shops, pubs, and bakeries. Residents are close to the boutiques and shops of The Glebe, the stores and services offered on Bank Street, and are also a short commute from downtown Ottawa and its numerous shopping and dining opportunities.

Schools and Churches

Residents of Little Italy real estate have great options for schools including the Devonshire Community Public School, St. Anthony Catholic School, and the Adult High School.

Churches close to the area include St. Anthony’s Church, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, and the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
