Recreation

The Ottawa River provides residents with scenic trails to walk and cycle along the shoreline. Bayshore Park sits centrally in the neighbourhood and is home to a community garden, an outdoor wood-burning oven (the only one in Ottawa!) as well as sports fields, playground, basketball court, water fountain, hockey and ice skating rinks and toboggan hill for Winter.

The active Bayshore Community Association hosts numerous events during the year including Community Bake Days where residents bring their dough and pizzas to cook in the outdoor oven, Bike Day where mechanics will do simple repairs free of charge, Clean the Capital, Winter Fair, Christmas Holiday Dinner, and many others.

One of Ottawa’s largest movie theatres is also located in this neighbourhood, the Cineplex Coliseum. Andrew Haydon Park is also a short distance from the community and offers a bandshell for outdoor concerts, lovely walking trails, play structures, two artificial ponds which attract Canada Geese and a variety of waterfowl and wildlife, a man-made waterfall, a unique water structure where children pump water and watch it trail through canals and water wheels, and so much more.

Shopping and Dining

The Bayshore Shopping Centre is located in this neighbourhood and offers residents access to one of Ottawa’s largest malls with over 200 retail businesses and services. From anchor stores such as Walmart, Winners, and Hudson Bay to numerous brand-name apparel shops, beauty salons and health shops, electronics, sports, toys, bookstores, and speciality shops, even an Apple Store—everything you can possibly desire can be found here. Restaurants are sprinkled around the mall and there is a full food court. As well, along Carling Avenue, you will find a wide variety of ethnic cuisine eateries.

In addition, IKEA Ottawa and the shops of Pinecrest Mall are a short drive away with several larger retail stores including Chapters, Micheals, Sears Home Store and others as well as restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

Schools and Churches

Bayshore Public School, Bayshore Catholic Elementary School, and St. Rose of Lima School are excellent schools located right in the neighbourhood. Brittania Baptist Church and Christ Embassy Bayshore Ottawa are churches in the community.
