Recreation
There are a couple of parks located right in the Central Park neighbourhood. Celebration Park contains a splash pad, swings, two play structures, tennis courts, sports fields, an ice rink, and gazebo while Alphabet Park is a smaller park with play structure, swings, and gazebo.
The active community association has several annual events to bring the neighbourhood together including a Family Fun Day, mini-Winterlude, Garage Sale and Donation Drive, and others.
The neighbourhood also borders the Experimental Farm and where you can visit the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum and walk through the country’s oldest Arboretum, home to 10,000 varieties of plants, and the beautiful Ornamental Gardens. Nearby Carlington Park provides residents with bike paths, an off-leash dog park, and its famous toboggan hill.
Shopping and Dining
For basic necessities, a Walmart Supercentre borders the neighbourhood and residents will appreciate the many local businesses on Baseline Road, Clyde Avenue, and Merivale Road which include a Tim Hortons, Bulk Barn, Food Basics, Loblaw’s, banks, beauty salons, and more. Restaurants include BAIDU, St. Louis Bar and Grill, Zaky, Nando’s, Sushi Kan, and several fast food establishments. Carlingwood Mall and Westgate Shopping Centre are also a short drive away for all your personal shopping needs.
Schools and Churches
There are no schools in the small neighbourhood itself, however, residents can use these school locators to find the closest options depending on which school board you prefer: The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Conseil des Ecoles Publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, The Ottawa Catholic School Board, Conseil des Ecoles Catholiques du Centre-Est.
Churches are also not located in Central Park, although Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Rhema Christian Ministries, St. Augustine’s, and St Bonaventure Eglise located in neighbouring communities are the closest.
